SPIDER WEB TATTOO · BERGMANNKIEZ SINCE 2020
Mauro, Kalo and Matteo opened Spider Web in Bergmannkiez in the summer of 2020. The shop has been at Riemannstraße 21 ever since. They built it around a shared love of tattooing, art and the history of the craft.
Spider Web is a traditional tattoo studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg, built as a welcoming street shop with different approaches under one roof. The walls are covered in flash and original artwork. We make tattoos with respect for the skin and how the work will age.
Traditional tattooing shapes how we work. We think about the design, the placement and what the skin can hold before we start. We draw on the knowledge of the tattooers who came before us. A tattoo should read clearly, work with the skin and still look good years later.
Spider Web is full of flash, original paintings and rare artwork from different eras of tattooing. The walls are part of the shop and part of how ideas start.
Come in with a clear idea, choose something from the walls or take your time with the portfolios. The shop is welcoming, personal and full of things to discover.
Every resident artist works from a traditional foundation and takes it in a different direction: classic Western traditional, Japanese-inspired work, 70s Californian tattooing, 80s fantasy, esoteric and symbolic designs, and biomechanical influences.
Look through the portfolios and find the artist whose work fits your idea. We welcome larger custom projects, collectors adding another piece and smaller walk-in tattoos.
Guest tattooers, exhibitions and workshops are part of life at Spider Web.
One of the most important moments for us was hosting tattooer Bernie Luther for his 40th anniversary in tattooing, together with an exhibition of more than 30 original paintings. Bernie has influenced our work and tattooing far beyond Berlin.
We have also taken part in every edition of the Kaiserstadt convention and organised two acrylic painting workshops with Javi Castaño from Barcelona.
